Tributo a Mahalia Jackson

(Tribute to Mahalia Jackson.
Mahalia Jackson occupies a definite place in the history of gospel music: the first one. His voice, which plays hits you as soon as the heart, catch you and makes you think, has become a flag of the African American people. Raise your hand if you disagree. On the other hand called for prayer, but also delighted poets and writers, has comforted the oppressed, it was the soundtrack of the struggle for civil rights, accompanied the funeral of Martin Luther King (as Aretha Franklin, a few years later, was accompanied with another gospel, Mahalia's funeral). the lost gospel Mahalia Jackson (1972), but not its intensity. And if it is still vibrant, we must give due credit to a whole legion of itinerant vocal groups of the highest value as the extraordinary voices of the New Spirit led by singer-pianist Carol Frazier. Just the "eight singers in Philadelphia, the scene from the 1999 and strengthened for the occasion by Carolyn Payne, one of the greatest living solo, have decided to dedicate their new tour to Mahalia Jackson, the" queen "of the gospel, the great mother of all black voices. Between classical and gospel spirituals and opportunities for urban music.)
